BnF Burnouf collection

In 1854, the Bibiliothèque nationale acquired a collection of books and manuscripts of Eugène Burnouf (1801–1852), the noted French Indologist, from his wife, for the price of 20,000 francs. The old shelfmarks correspond to the 1854 catalogue which lists the works for sale. His wife later donated more manuscripts and papers to the BnF in 1869, 1870, 1871, and 1880.
